A cozy sweater for a rainy day
My good friend Jessica Sutton ( who has an amazing blog that you should check out!) is on the search for a cozy, fall sweater, but the key ingredient is off the shoulder. I couldn't help but start doing some online searching for her. A cold, rainy day calls for such a staple piece. I found this one on urbanoutfitters.com. I might just have to get one for myself.

missibaba bags
So as a boutique owner, I am constantly looking for new, up and coming designers to bring into Flock. A lot of times I get approached by designers and sales reps, and sadly most of the time it is not a good fit for Flock. Recently, however, I was approached by a lady who currently lives in Cape Town South Africa, and introduced me to the amazing and beautiful line Missibaba. Designed by Chloe Townsend, a graduate of London College of Fashion, she creates the most beautiful and unique leather bags and clutches. I find that with the stud and fringe trends happening (which don't get me wrong, I LOVE) but it does overlap with a lot of designers and we start to see too much of the same thing. What I really love about Missibaba is that this line is on point with the trends but stands alone in the execution of each piece. Since they are all hand made in this cute little Cape Town design studio, each piece is truly unique and as a buyer I get to custom design each piece that I bring in! From the hand painted color blocks hand stitched on, to the cut out birds and flowers, I have yet to see a piece I don't like. I really don't think I can do the line justice by explaining it so check out the photos and stop into Flock if you have a chance to see these beautiful pieces.

Happy 3rd Birthday to Roscoe and Bo!
About 2 and a half years ago I adopted Roscoe and Bo, two very cute black lab/ bassett hound puppies that I found on petfinder. On a truck, up from Arkansas they came and they became a part of my everydays. They are the greatest companions and definitely the mascots of Flock. We just celebrated their 3rd birthday and I had to share this picture of them with their birthday cake ( organic carrot cake with honey, cinnamon, and yogurt frosting, yum!)

Jimi Hendrix plays Bob Dylan's "Like a Rolling Stone"
The last few days I have been discovering the wonderful world of Pandora radio. My most favorite band of all time is the Grateful Dead so naturally we have had Pandora set to our own Grateful Dead station. I wanted to share this cover of Bob Dylan's "Like a Rolling Stone" by Jimi Hendrix performed at the Monterey International Pop Music Festival in 1967. There's something magical about Jimi's voice singing Dylan's lyrics. I hope you like it.

mom's garden!
I have inherited many amazing qualities from my wonderful mom, but a green thumb is not one of them. She has the most beautiful gardens down at her house on the south shore. Most recently I went down to help her pick the latest freshly grown vegetables. Heirloom tomatoes, red and yellow grape tomatoes, green and purple string beans and purple peppers. Yum! Last night I made a fresh grape tomato pasta sauce that was so delicious, even Ryan who doesn't like tomatoes (!!!) enjoyed it.

fall is in the air at Flock
Elise and I have started working on our newest window display for Fall. Our theme is a woodland wonderland, filled with woodland creatures, colorful mushrooms, and lots of moss and branches. We've decided to hand stitch the mushrooms and woodland animals using felt and yarn. It's a work in progress but our vision is slowly coming together. Stay tuned for photos of our final product soon. Until then, here's a sneak peak at a few owls I've made so far.

Kolarbryn Eco Lodge
I recently read about Kolarbryn, a one of a kind eco-lodge in Sweden and was amazed by the concept. It is a very primitive hotel with no electricity, fresh water from a spring, and sheep skin blankets for warmth. There are just twelve of these little forest huts to choose from and it seems like a truly unique experience to spend some time here. If only I can make my way there someday :)

fall is on it's way
with the weather these past few days, I've been getting super excited for fall! seeing all the new pieces arrive at Flock makes me think of those cool, crisp fall days when layering is a necessity, and i love to layer :) one of my favorite designers, Lauren Moffatt, has brought us another amazing collection this season. preppy and military inspired, Lauren gives her pieces a feminine touch with her choice of fabrics and patterns. structured coats and skirts have cute bow detailing and blouses made of silk are flowy and soft. Here's a peak at what we have here at the store but this is just the first of her three fall deliveries.

vintage loves for the vintage lover
So free people is one of my most favorite places to shop, with their vintage and hippie inspired looks, but they have just launched a new addition to their online shop, vintage loves. These "loves" are categorized in three collections: hippie, lace, and denim. Can you guess which is my favorite? With embroidered ponchos, paisley print skirts and dresses, and suede and beaded moccasins, free people takes some of the fun out of hunting for the perfect vintage pieces but brings you treasures you may have never stumbled upon.

oh Joie
today we received shipment at Flock of our newest Joie shoes and boots for fall and as usual, I am so impressed. My favorite is the Jovi boot. On track with the lace up military inspired trend, these boots are a must have for fall. We opted for the "western tan" rather than the black which I prefer. They have the look of vintage, already slightly broken in, but the feel of a brand spanking new pair of shoes. Check 'em out.

telluride, co
uc berkeley campus
after san francisco and berkeley, ca, I headed to Telluride Colorado. A beautiful mountain village and a picturesque place to see live music. We stayed in Mountain Village which was just two gondola rides up from the town of Telluride. It was truly a magical and beautiful place to spend some time in. The colors in the sky at sunset were amazing, I don't think my photos can even do it justice.

the local branch
as we strolled through the renegade fair in san francisco this weekend, my mom and I not only found lots of things that we loved for ourselves, but we discovered a team of local designers here who have an amazing collection called the local branch. mackenzie and blaine could not have been a sweeter couple and their designs are truly the perfect fit for Flock. inspired by their surroundings just north of san francisco, this inspiration is artfully translated in their pieces. we are so excited to have discovered them and can not wait to get their line into Flock.
