the local branch

as we strolled through the renegade fair in san francisco this weekend, my mom and I not only found lots of things that we loved for ourselves, but we discovered a team of local designers here who have an amazing collection called the local branch. mackenzie and blaine could not have been a sweeter couple and their designs are truly the perfect fit for Flock. inspired by their surroundings just north of san francisco, this inspiration is artfully translated in their pieces. we are so excited to have discovered them and can not wait to get their line into Flock.

feathers and fringe, my two most favorite things!

renegade craft fair in san fran

My mom, hannah, and I are off to the craft fair that's happening in San Francisco this weekend! I've never been before but sounds like it is like a traveling etsy fair featuring tons of handmade treasures but with craft workshops and live music. i like it already.

So today I am off to San Francisco, which I can not be more excited about. I have a long list of places that I can't wait to revisit and some new places I want to check out, Haight-Ashbury being at the top of my list along with the boutiques on Fillmore and an Irish Coffee at Buena Vista cafe.

peace. love. happiness.....and feathers

I'm loving the line Wildfox couture with their mix of american vintage inspired t-shirts, tanks, sweatshirts, leggings, and beanies. Based out of LA, two childhood friends design their pieces to represent peace, love and having fun. Here are some of my faves!

remembering my dad today and always...

When we were young we thought life was a game, but then somebody leaves you and you're never the same. All of the places and people belong to the puzzle, but one of the pieces is gone and it's you." Phish, Joy"

It was 6 years ago today that I lost my dad. A lot has happened in 6 years, and I hope that he is looking down at me, through all the ups and downs. I was so lucky to have such a wonderful father, mentor, and friend. He lived his life to the fullest and I hope to do the same in his memory. I do believe that those who endure the most are rewarded the most, for the outlook on life that we have is much different, and in a way we are lucky to be able to take the time and realize how lucky we are for the good things that life has given us. Love you Dad.

my new show bag

So thanks to my wonderful friend Elise who discovered this gorgeous bag from Anthropologie and thanks to my amazing mom, it will be here this week, just in time for my big trip. I always have my eye out for "show bags," easy to carry and not too heavy so I can still dance around at concerts. This one has everything and more; fringe and feathers!

SoWa vintage market finds!

My mom and I headed down to the SoWa open markets yesterday and I found some great things! Although I really love the outdoor market, my favorite is the vintage market inside. I scooped up these great finds there.......

This top I got from Bobby from Boston, a great vintage store on Thayer Street right by Harrison Ave. They have amazing men's vintage pieces with a smaller selection of women's pieces as well. I'm thinking cut off shorts with it for my trip to San Fran!

life is like a roller coaster.

via flikr
"Life is like a roller coaster.
It's always a different thrill each day
For it's never the same ride for all.
Sometimes it's up,
Sometimes it's down.
Twisting and turning
Through thick and thin,
Up and down,
Which way will it go?
People scream, people shout,
Others cry, others laugh.
No matter how hard
This ride seems to be,
You just gotta get through it.
Just have faith in yourself!
If you follow the track,
For it will take you home.
Life is like a roller coaster,
It's the best ride there is."

an amazing artist

Daniel Sean Murphy's latest collection of work is made entirely of black paper. The detail he is able to show in each object is pretty cool given he is only using paper.
